We recognise that our volunteers take on a lot of responsibility.
This is why we understand the importance of good volunteer management at every level of our organisation. We’ll ensure that you always have someone to support and assist your development as a volunteer, and that you know who you can speak to if you are unsure about anything.
When you join a local unit as an event first aider, your unit manager will be your first point of call for any questions or concerns you might have.
Unit managers are supported by area managers, who are supported by district managers and regional directors.
Volunteers involved in other aspects of St John Ambulance (for example, fundraising or human resources) will operate under a different supervision system that will be specific to their role.
All of our volunteers have a volunteer development review at least once a year. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your line manager to discuss how you have been doing over the last 12 months, identify any opportunities for development, and address any questions or concerns that you or your manager might have about your role.
If you want to help save lives in your community, we’d love you to join our team. Whatever you enjoy doing, and however much time you can commit, there’s a volunteer role for you.
