Whether you want to help save lives or stay behind the scenes - you can pursue a variety of roles
Most roles are suitable for anyone aged 18 or over, with some available to 16-17 year olds. If you’re under 18, check out our youth programmes.
Our specialist and leadership roles are available seperately.
We cover all of England and have opportunities all over the country. If you’re elsewhere in the UK, please search for SJA Cymru, SJA Northern Ireland, or St Andrew’s First Aid (Scotland).
As you look through our roles and opportunities, you can find out more about the time commitment needed. Almost all our roles mostly involve volunteering in the evenings and weekends. Most only require a minimum of a few hours a month, with some opportunities suitable if you have even less time to spare.
Support the public with first aid at a variety of large and small events, with full training provided.
With just a little of your time, be on the front line of delivering vaccinations that save lives and restore your community.
Are you already trained in First Aid at Work? If so, you could use your skills as a volunteer Stadium First Aider and be a key part of large sports events.
Can you be the behind-the-scenes hero who makes sure St John has the right equipment, in the right place, at the right time to save a life?
Are you ambitious about growing a high level of clinical skill? Our Emergency Ambulance Crew respond to emergency and non-emergency calls to support the activities of St John and the NHS.
Reliable, calm in an emergency, and passionate about helping your community. Sound like you? If yes, you could become a community first responder.
Motivate and train fellow volunteers to be the skilled life-savers that their communities need.
Engage with your community to raise vital funds so St John Ambulance can keep saving lives.
Are you an existing St John Advanced First Aider or higher, and a keen cyclist? With two wheels, be the first on scene to support patients who become unwell in the furthest parts of an event.
Are you an existing St John Advanced First Aider or higher? Get to the sickest patients in risky areas, stabilise them, and get them somewhere for safe and effective treatment.
