Would you like to help young people have a transformative experience while seeking out new challenges?
Young people play a crucial role in helping SJA realise its mission of saving lives through volunteering for health and first aid. One of the ways we achieve this is by helping them develop their skills, knowledge and abilities through the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award.
As a volunteer DofE Leader, your mentoring and support will ensure our young people have access to the very best opportunities offered by the programme – all while having great fun! You’ll be working with Cadets from aged 14, and student and adult volunteers aged up to 25 years old. You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running an expedition in Snowdonia with your Mountain Leader qualification – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.
We’ll offer you training to develop your skills, whether in first aid skills or DofE leader training to broaden your capacity and experience. And if you already have Mountain Leader, Hill and Moorland Leader or Lowland Leader qualifications, that’s even better.
How often will you volunteer?
Would you like to volunteer once a week or once a year? That’s entirely up to you. With the constant guidance of a friendly volunteer manager and DofE team, you’ll get all the support you need to make bold strides and rediscover your inner ‘big kid’.
This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act and as such an Enhanced DBS check will be obtained.
